The Maintenance Superintendent provides technical support, industry expertise, encouragement and guidance to direct reports and the maintenance team promoting optimal plant operations.

Responsibility includes but is not limited to:

  • Responsible for training and development of staff, directing the department on a daily basis and enforcing safe operating practices
  • Responsible for organizing, motivating, and maintaining an effective maintenance program to ensure the facility performance objectives are met
  • Develop department by overseeing hiring, conducting performance reviews, providing coaching and training staff members
  • Create high performance work teams in the department that use lean manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques with root cause problem solving methods to resolve issues
  • Manage the daily operations and maintenance of site equipment
  • Plan and schedule equipment repairs and schedule and execute required preventative maintenance (PM) through the use of a computerized maintenance management system
  • Proactively provide feedback to management regarding hazards in the workplace and deal with emergency situations
  • Ensure compliance with all company, state and federal rules, regulations and guidelines (i.e. ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn according to job requirement) 
  • Develop and adhere to job safety analysis in regards to all potentially hazardous tasks 


  • Must have the ability to determine root causes, diagnose issues and restore systems/processes, and estimate time, cost, materials and scheduling as necessary for completion of project

  • 3-5 years proven experience in processing plant maintenance management

  • Associate Degree in related field preferred; experience will be considered in lieu of education preference

  • Ability to maintain and repair all production facility equipment in a manner that minimizes downtime

  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical duties that need to be performed on plant systems

  • Strong mechanical background along with food service experience in an industrial environment
