Summary:
Assures all Mountaire processing procedures are followed while achieving the highest level of productivity in a cost-efficient manner. Oversee processing functions and activities including the supervision of a diverse team of associates.  Ensure associates are trained and compliant in food safety programs and continuously practice safety procedures and requirements. Ensure quantity and quality of work is maintained to fulfill duties and responsibilities in an independent manner.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Supervise and direct work in the department to ensure efficient labor utilization
  • Provide guidance and leadership to all department personnel on shift
  • Manage line efficiencies key performance indicators and down time
  • Prepare work schedules, monitors, and records employee attendance and performance
  • Prepare and approves employee time records, prepares daily reports related to production
  • Assist employees with troubleshooting problems and coaching them through making the correct adjustments
  • Identifies equipment problems and schedules repairs with Maintenance personnel
  • Monitor the production process; make periodic checks and adjust equipment or work practices according to standard operating procedures
  • Maintain optimum line speeds, efficient crewing, proficient yields, and has accountability for all variances
  • Report staffing, morale, work methods and procedure problems to the department superintendent
  • Provide direction for necessary training to enhance productivity, employee development and safety
  • Assist employees with troubleshooting problems and coaching them through making the correct adjustments
  • Act as leader in safety promotion and awareness. Conducts safety meetings and training as necessary
  • Champion for company-wide safety programs and initiatives
 Requirements:
  • Demonstrated Supervisory experience equal to three (3) or more years in a processing environment
  • Working knowledge of Plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Ability to facilitate the operation of a production line
  • Understanding of USDA Policies and Procedures
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Management or related field or equivalent training and experience
  • Previous poultry experience is a plus
  • Good computer skills needed to work with Microsoft Office programs, payroll programs and performance tracking software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Display strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Customer service oriented and the ability to work well in a team environment
